Making RV bedding more comfortable

Home / Hardware / Making RV bedding more comfortable

A Recreational vehicle is the best way to enjoy the open road. It is essentially a house on wheels and has the space and storage for everything you will need on a long journey. However, this means that there are some trade-offs, with your fold-out bed not the most comfortable for a good night’s sleep. Here are some things you can do to make your RV bedding more comfortable:

Padding

The standard RV cushions that are part of a converting bed are thin and hard on your back. The quickest and most inexpensive method of improving comfort levels is to add some form of padding. We still need to take the amount of space into consideration when padding, so look at mattress pads, which are thick but still offer additional comfort.

Replace

Another option is to replace the existing mattress. Older mattresses tend to degrade over time, becoming flat and uncomfortable. Manufacturers offer custom foam mattresses cut to your specific dimensions, covered with a Dacron fiberfill. However, according to The Foam Factory, do not compensate for the fiberfill when sending your measurements, as they take that into account.

Add

Ultimately, it comes down to how much time you spend in your RV. The longer you do, the more worthwhile it is to invest in pillows, cushions, comforters and anything else that is part of your regular sleep regimen at home. Just remember not to use flat-sheets and use fitted sheets that are more secure and appropriate or an RV.
