Getting away from everyday chaotic, busy lifestyle can be quite a retreat to many. Whether you choose yoga classes over a simple walk in the park, sometimes you need more. If you are the ‘get out of town’ type, then the San Juan Islands is the perfect destination for your family. Packed with beautiful scenery and activities that will leave you begging for more. Draft a to-do list, pack a few things and then catch a ferry to the San Juan Islands. Here are a few exciting things you can do according to San Juan PM:

The Whale Museum – Located in the beautiful Friday Harbor, Washington is the museum on the island. Opened in 1979, it holds a Research Centre and a fully equipped listening station devoted for conservation and life study for the underwater giants. Be sure to visit the genealogy wall for a comprehensive family tree of this SRKW.

Whales study – Learn acoustics and language of Whales from the lighthouse via an in-built fully equipped listening station thanks to a hydrophone placed 50 feet underwater by the Lime Kiln State Park.

Whale watching – From the Lime Kiln Point State Park, you will get one of the best sea shore-based views in the world, and you can watch these Orca whales play hide and seek in their natural habitat.

Stewardship practice – The whale museum does its best by allowing tourists to engage in stewardship activities yet making them understand how our behaviors directly affect the SRKW.

Take a tour of the kids’ room – The room is packed with a load full of fun and learning games. A payphone stands in the main exhibit hall, which allows kids to listen to different marine creatures’ sounds.

After a day-long full of activities at the while museum in Friday Harbor, retreat back to your San Juan Island rentals and watch the sun go down the sky as you enjoy your dinner.
